بعد التشكيل، يتم تسخين قطع الفولاذ المقاوم للصدأ إلى 900-1100 درجة مئوية (فوق إعادة البلورة) وتبريدها بالهواء (التطبيع) أو تبريدها بالفرن (التليين) لتنقية الحبوب وتليين المواد وإزالة الإجهاد المتبقي. يتم إطفاء الدرجات الأوستنيتي بالماء. تتلقى الدرجات المزدوجة تبريدًا سريعًا للهواء لتجنب الطور σ.
